About me

Hi there! I'm Jason Wood and I'm an aspiring author, meaning that I'm working towards getting my first book written and published. I've been writing for a long time, but it has always been job related. Those have been things like blog posts, big public reports, and individual client reports. I first started thinking about being a writer in junior high, thanks to my english teacher for 8th and 9th grade. I kept thinking that "one day" I'd write a book. Some time last month, that time became now.

On the personal side, my wonderful wife and I have been married for 26 years and counting. We have two children and two dogs. One interesting thing from career in cybersecurity is that I worked as a professional hacker for 7 years. It's kind of wild when you get paid to break in to web sites, networks, and even buildings. An unexpected plus was that I found I was asked to help people with their computers far less after this job. Now only my parents and mother-in-law want me to help them out. 😄

As you may have noticed from my picture, I'm a bit of a Brandon Sanderson fanboy. I met Brandon at some book signings some time in 2008 or 2009. (I think) I was a squire at Dragonsteel Nexus 2024 and it was a fun experience to be part of bringing the conference to other fans. And I got to meet Mistborn Santa! This gentleman's costume was something else.

So that's a bit about me.

The purpose of this site

Right now, I'm using this blog as my journal to document the process of writing my first book. This is partly so that I can create a repository of things I've learned along the way and partly to share the ride with you.
