Riding over the Golden Gate Bridge

Riding over the Golden Gate Bridge
It was a really comfortable day for a bike ride

We took a break this afternoon to split into groups and do different activities. About 20 of us decided to take the bicycle ride along the San Francisco Bay to the Golden Gate Bridge. The weather was perfect for this type of ride. A little overcast to keep the sun off, a little cool to keep you comfortable, and an electric bike to make it easy. It was my first time on an electric bike, and it was a good time.

Getting ready to head out

I had a few thoughts as we rode. First, I was just wondering what it was like to be in San Francisco when the buildings we rode past were built. Many of them were military buildings from the early to middle 1900s. Others were old industrial buildings that have been repurposed and infrastructure that is falling apart.

Mostly I just enjoyed the ocean. I haven't been to the ocean front since 2018 and I forgot what the ocean smelled like. The waves were fairly gentle and the sound of them hitting the rocks was relaxing. It brought back memories to when I was a kid living about 45 minutes away from the beach. Trips with family or friends. It felt good. I wish Shannon had been here for it, since she really loves the ocean.

A moment from my bike ride

When a friend asked me what the dream would be, I said that I'd be writing a book in my home office that overlooked the ocean. While Shannon and I are debating locations, this would still be pretty sweet.
